Boris Javor

Boris was born in Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina and moved to Zagreb, Croatia in 1990. During elementary and high school years, Boris played competitive soccer and obtained black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. Boris was also a member of the St. John Choir and participated in many domestic and international music festivals.  He graduated with honors from Opca Gimnazija Secondary School in 1999. After his graduation Boris attended Faculty of Medicine at University of Zagreb and in October, 2003 he came to Canada.

As a Thompson Rivers University science student, Boris lived and worked in Kamloops until he was accepted to the Faculty of Science, BPSc program at UBC in 2005.  In the summer of 2008, Boris started working for Gordon Nelson Inc. part-time as a student.  After his post-secondary education, Boris joined the company’s property management division full-time.

Boris plays in a recreational soccer league throughout the year, plays tennis and guitar and is currently enrolled in business and property management courses at UBC.

Heidi Shortreed

Heidi was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario where she was involved in her parent’s TV and appliance sales business as well as the management of family owned rental properties. In 1996 after attending Wilfred Laurier University and  Seneca College of Applied Arts in Toronto, she began her career in Property Taxation & Assessment with a consulting firm in Brampton, Ontario.

In 2003, after being promoted to Senior Consultant, she was offered the opportunity to re-locate to Vancouver, BC to open a branch office for the firm. She later changed companies and joined Deloitte & Touche LLP as a Manager in the Property Tax Division.

At Deloitte,  Heidi was responsible for the management of Property Taxation Services for in excess of 300 local, national, and international clients. In addition, she designed and implemented National Account Management and Internal Communication Strategies for the PTS division, developed and administered a two year Provincial Parking Tax Review project from start to finish, and served as an Executive Member of the Canadian Property Tax Association between 2005 and 2008.

In 2008 a career change was needed and Heidi joined Gordon Nelson Inc. She is involved in the operation and management of the company’s five West End properties. She has completed the Property Management Licensing course from Sauder School of Business at UBC and is working towards her Diploma in Urban Land Economics from UBC in her spare time.
